History of the Asian Diva Girls Web Site
Asian Diva Girls (ADG) was launched on Valentine's Day (February 14th), in 2003. So how did it all begin? ADG is my third adult web site since starting in the adult biz in January 2000. My first two adult sites were solo model sites, one was softcore and the other one hardcore. While I enjoyed creating these sites, I discovered after a few years into each one, that there is an inherent problem with solo model sites, which is that the success of the site is very dependent upon the model playing an ongoing active role. I found it frustrating to invest a susbstanital amount of time and money into these ventures, only to have the models decide to quit after a few years (translation: "boyfriend issues"). I could have kept rotating content, however each time I instead decided to make a fresh start. As I looked around, I noted that there is a lot of turnover of models industry-wide, so I decided that it was time for me to try something different. One element which I always enjoyed about my solo sites was that they conveyed a sense of the model's personality, and although certain artistic liberties were taken (to protect the model's personal identity for security purposes, etc.), a conscious effort was made to interject the model's own personality into the site as much as possible on many levels, thereby engaging the Members who could watch voyeurstically, or vicariously share the model's adventures and experiences. I really don't like corporate cookie cutter adult sites that are cranked out assembly-line style (I'm sure you have all seen these). In addition to most of them being filled with non-exclusive third party content (that is available all over the net), they really lack any kind of personality. Initially, I was first inspired to get involved in the adult web industry by a true amateur couple that operated their own amateur web site here in Silicon Valley. I'm not sure how many people might recall the now defunct web site called "The Shy Exhibitionist", but I thought that site truly stood out. The premise was simple, that you were a voyeur taken along on various exhibitionist (public nudity), adventures of the Asian hostess. All of the pictures were taken by her husband. The site enjoyed a good deal of popularity, largely because Shy Kris (the shy exhibitionist), wrote about her adventures, and encouraged Members to send in ideas. She also hostessed several Member parties - I actually ended up attending a few. I was saddened when Kris decided to take her site down. One good thing about operating her own site was that she could end the site on her own terms since she owned the content. So why do I create only Asian niche sites? The simplest answer is that I am mostly attracted to Asian women, which is partly due to the fact that I lived as a teenager, and came of age sexually, while growing up in Hawaii. Paradise is an accurate way to describe Hawaii, since some of the most beautiful women in the world live there. After leaving Hawaii, I traveled extensively in Asia, and even lived in Japan for nearly five years. It was during my travels and living experiences that I began to learn more about various Asian cultures. My interest in all things Asian continued to grow during my college years. By the time I began developing Asian Diva Girls, I decided to create a different type of Asian erotica site. The initial idea was to have it revolve around a changing cast of 3-4 models, so that if one left, their place could be filled by another model. That idea never quite got off the ground, because while planning and shooting the foundation for the site, one of the models moved out of state, then another one became pregnant. It was one thing after another. I was still comitted to creating a site that would be unique. I knew that I would have a site which would feature many models, and I wanted my site to include everything from glamour nude models to hardcore performers, but I still wanted it to convey an amateur spirit. Therefore I decided to utilize "spokesmodels", who would represent the site at live events, conduct interviews with models appearing on the site, and sharing and exploring their own sexuality in depth as well. Most of the ADG spokesmodels have been active for over two years at a time. Some, (like Ariel Song, the original Asian Diva Girls spokesmodel), take breaks for school, or take a hiatus from modeling for other personal reasons (usually boyfriends, lol), and then they periodically come back. Others, like Annie Cruz, who started her adult career with ADG by e-mailing me, move along to start their own web sites and company's (Annie has appeared in over 200 adult videos now). ADG has become like a sort of extended family. There have been lots of ups and downs, such is life and business, but it has been a fun ride nonetheless, and my plans for the site keep expanding. As some of you may know, I did nearly all of the photography for the first three years of the site (yes, I am a total amateur, but I like to think that I've improved over time), and I am also the principal videographer. While I will continue to shoot some of the still photography, I am moving more and more towards hiring other photographers, while I focus my energy instead on shooting and directing the videos for the site (I sometimes have 2 or 3 cameras going). As ADG evolves, this will become more and more evident. So, before I ramble on too long, I would like to end this short history of ADG by thanking all of you whom have been loyal supporters of my efforts over the years. Without your support I could not have had the opportunity to bring so many models to you, or purchase the equipment necessary to create a site like this. Mahalo to all of the ADG Members, past and current - and finally, a big thank you to all of the beautiful models whom I have been fortunate to work with. Each and every one of you is special to me in your own way. Well, if you want to learn more about the history of ADG, what it takes to get started and succeed in this biz, etc., then I hope you will check out my new blog ("You Don't Know Dick"), which I will be starting up in June 2006 - and as always, feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.
