The following are answers to frequently asked questions from Members:
Q: How do I start my own website like ADG?
A: I'll get into some of the answers to this in my blog, since what I've learned over the past 6+ years could fill a book. My best advice is to do plenty of research beforehand. Start with the Webmaster Boards like Ynot and Cozy Frog. They have tutorials on many of the various aspects of running a site (shooting your own versus buying content, model releases, generating traffic, billing solutions, security, etc). Make sure you study the legal aspects as well (required paperwork, business license, tax issues, etc).
While it might appear on the surface to be all fun and games, making money in the adult industry is a very competitive and serious business, and not everyone is suited for it. If you perform your due diligence in advance you will significantly increase your odds for success. Also, it's not cheap...computers, software, server hosting, business license, resellers license, office rent (if you don't want to list your home address on publically accessible legal papers), utilities (phone, internet access, etc), still camera(s), video camera(s), tripods, lighting equipment, model fees, location fees, transportation fees, conference fees, model wardrobe, props, make-up artists, are just some of the expenses that you might incur, as I do.
Q: How do I contact (insert model/performer name here)?
A: Models and performers trust me to protect their identity (most models use fake "stage" names) as well as their privacy, therefore I never give out their personal information. At best, I can forward info to them if a request sounds legitimate, and if I still have their contact info - some models change their phone numbers frequently, and some have other people screen their e-mail. I am not an agent, so I do not handle booking requests for any models, although I exchange info with photographers and others in the industry whom I know and trust.
Many models attend Models Expos, Car Shows and other events, in order to meet fans and sell autographed photos, etc. ADG participates in such events periodically (see the "Events" page). This is a great opportunity to meet the models, although keep in mind that these events can also attract huge crowds, so the actual amount of time you can get to have a conversation is limited.
Q: How do I find models?
A: There are various model forums (One Model Place, etc), and several agencies that list model profiles. Most of the models/performers that appear on ADG either came to me through an agency, or were referred by someone else in the industry (another model, photographer, etc), since I pay a referral fee for model's that I hire as a result of a referral. Several models contact me simply because they know of my web site, they know I pay for every project (no test shoots or TFP shoots), and I have a good reputation in the industry going back several years.
